           Favorite Subject (ID) #5

What is your favorite subject in school? And what do you like so much about that subject? My favorite subject in school is science. In science you get to experiment on things and find out more about an object. Have you played with dry ice in science? How about separating items from each other? If you say you don’t like that I don’t blame you it wasn’t my favorite but was still fun.

My first favorite thing about science class is getting to play and experiment with dry ice. Some of the cool things you can do with dry ice are very amazing. If you out dry ice on a hot surface it doesn’t melt it just spins, and if you push down it makes a loud screeching noise (often bugs people). You can play air hockey on the table with your dry ice. If you put it in soapy water it makes the soap really cold and creates bubbles filled with gas. Then finally you shove a penny down in the dry ice and of course it makes a screeching noise at first but then the penny starts to shiver. A hint though is to not touch the dry ice.

I also liked to remove items from each other. We had a baby jar with popcorn seeds, sand, salt, and iron filings. It was fun to remove those because we had to strain the items to separate the popcorn. Then to remove iron filings we had to put a magnet in a plastic bag and move it through the salt, sand, and iron. The iron would stick to the magnet and that was removed. We then put a coffee filter in a funnel, and empty the sand and salt into it then pour water through and it filtered the salt through. After the salt filtered through you burn off the water and you have the salt alone. I like doing that so much because it has so many steps involved.

I like science because it is hands on and you get to experiment with items. Science is so popular my dentist’s favorite subject in school was science. Have you ever played with dry ice in class what about separating a mixture? Well I better get back to experimenting with my dry ice.
